Wellington High School kicks off spring football eager to 'light up the scoreboard' come fall

The dream of the fall football season of high school teams comes true in spring as they get ready for the games.

**Rephrase:** WPTV stopped by at Wellington High School on August 23 to catch up with the Wolverines as they returned to the gridiron for the first time this season.

Even though it was a scorcher with temperatures hitting 90s already, those who are involved, coaches did not hesitate in blowing off playbooks and their enthusiasm for 2024 is quite evident.

"We can basically start a journey of building upon the strength of the team.  Now that we have an idea of our weaknesses it's a moment for improvement," Cape Grove coach Ross Pryor said. "Spring is a time when we find ways of meeting together as a group and we carded to have fun.  So in spring it is less serious. "

To each spring, each individual creates a different experience. Players, however, that have already known they are back in business when warmer weather dawns in May.

It means that we are going to have almost a whole month to improve and we will have some live game time, on the other hand Jonethan Paul, a sophomore said. "Of course, one must do well, especially that the season does not let you being unprepared.  "

Now, after a 2-8 season, the Wolverines have a chance to send a message if they can topple the modeled dominated team, and that should be the message they want to send.

The team wants to give the people of Wellington a chance to witness a different Wellington than what they are used to for the fans: "It's about us coming to show people that it's not the same Wellington they are accustomed to" the junior Landon Brodeur. "We are the team bringing the discipline and courage and the ambition to score epic points. "

"The ‘I’m number 1’ spirit of our team goes beyond our audience or coming from a 2-8 season.  This is our year and we are going to make it happen," Oliver pointed out. "We are back now better bigger.  " It means we have improved and bigger in the same time.

The team wills to finish the upcoming offseason but be able to show it by August, this is a renewed team.
