Tyrell McCrea named Chaparral head football coach
The new generation of Chaparral High School form the Bobcats team with a new head coach Tyrell McCrea that was hired and approved for the coming season of 2024.
McCrea added that he had mixed feelings because it felt like the timing of the whole situation was rather late, CC BY-NC-ND
Every football coach wants to have the off season to prepare, or have the summer practice, or have all of that stuff, right? Meeting the hardworking people here like Chaparral school I was impressed they are here; it speaks for itself, so I could not decline the offer.
McCrea has even come from the position of the Offensive coordinator at San Antonio Davenport and has had led the Wolves at the highest level taking the team to the 4A-Division one state semi-finals.
Chaparral begins their third year of varsity football; McCrea steps into an as the second head coach ever for a program — and it’s another item crossed off a wish list.
”It’s kind of one of the dreams of mine to have a fresh new school — for it to be in year three, it’s still fairly new, so I’m not walking to a situation where it’s always been done this way or those are our traditions and this way we kind of get to build some of those together,” he said.
And, if McCrea is simply a head football coach but can be available for other WOO sports events regularly, then being an athletic director does not seem like a keener requirement, does it?
“My biggest goal is to ensure that I work for the football unit in the same way that I work for the basketball, cross country, swim, track, whatever programs existing here. ”
Well, you do have to play those roles and you do need to have those many hats.
The Bobcats gameplay for the first time of the year is scheduled for the 30th of August against Kyle Lehman.
