Traffic light to be installed near Utica High School football field

A traffic signal will be placed on Shelby Road at Utica High School’s Swinehart Field in Shelby Township for “a safer, more convenient ingress/egress and pedestrian crossing”, as a county official stated.

Southeast Michigan Road Commission’s Public Service Committee signed off on the document which delineates the responsibility of Shelby Street north of 21 Mile Road for UCS maintenance, with the costs to be paid by the school district. The cost which will be paid each year will be $3000; the price of installation has not been provided but it will contain permit fees, so the statement reported.

The UCS was the one to request this for the safer traffic flow and pedestrian crossing at the Utica High School stadium, as the roads officials said in a document submitted to the board. In addition, Swinhart is mentioned as Swinhart Stadium, which is where football, soccer, track and field together with lacrosse are played and the traditional BandArama takes place.

This transaction is conditional, and in case the humidity report doesn’t meet the requirements of the traffic engineering study and the county needs to dismantle the device, the authors will have to pay for the dismantling and the gross amount made by devices based on the proportion of these devices in relation to the removal of this signal.

The procedure will be approved by the board on Thursday.
