Rigo Sanchez hosted his 4th Annual Football Camp at Hamilton High School

At the weekend, one of the local American systems NFL player conducted the fourth annual free football festival in Hamilton City to showcase more on manners of football. 

In a recent interview with Action News Now, Indianapolis Colts punter and Hamilton City native, Rigoberto Sanchez talked about how crucial it is for his community to hold this annual camp. 

“Much like every single year, it is the give-back time and my wife and I always take a lot of pride behind this event, and being able to come out here and assist the kids and put out a message to them, you know I came from Hamilton High School and out here they do not have too many facilities for children to go out and do something and they do not do it for free. ”

Rigo Sanchez, being a Hamilton High football star, successfully conducted the fourth annual Rigo Sanchez Youth Football Camp where he hosted more than 250 kids on Saturday.

Throughout the camp, there were various activities being organized for the camp by Butte College coaches, and Hamilton high alumnis.

Children also practiced on receiving the football as well as handling and kicking it.

One of the kicking coaches at the camp, who has been working with Sanchez for many years, expressed details about Sanchez’s personality to Action News Now and explained how organizing this camp positively impacts the local children.

“The best part about it is as Tarver and Moreno note, these kids will learn everything preseason before they get out there, but then they get to meet Rigo,” Local kicking coach Abel Hernandez said. 

From interviews with some children some of them Wallace Edson, who has been a camper at Sanchez camp narrated that he immensely awaits the summer camp. Specifically, Edson has improved his skills in football by playing the sport for the last couple of years. 

This was a confession from Edson who was quick to say that he has learnt something new every time he comes to the camp.

“Well, I like Rigo, you know it is fine that he comes back, and having a camp that is being led by an actual NFL player is pretty good it truly helps teach you a lot,” Edson added.

Philomena Sancho, the wife of Rigo responds that it has always been a wish of the two of them to make a difference in the society.

Now and then you see a kid with a dream or with some aspirations to be something; all you can do is go up to him or her and say, ‘Hey, can I help?’ and that’s a lesson we have learned with us being teammates for such years,” said Cynthia Sanchez. 

Sanchez says he wants to have the free camp in here next year in order to increase the population of the sport and be of more benefit to the society.
