Recap of 53rd McDonald’s Lehigh Valley All-Star Football Classic
Once again, Lehigh and Lafayette went through a dramatic tightly contested football match with many revrote and unexpected twists in the game especially in the frantic fourth quarter hereby making it Lehigh Valley All-Star Football Classic 53 . As it has been expected, the Gold Squad triumphed over the Red Squad with 21 against 20 in the match that took place on a warm Thursday evening at Andrew S. Leh Stadium on the territory of the Nazareth College.
McDonalds Lehigh Valley Allstar Football Classic is consisting of Northampton County, Philipsburg and Palisades or Gold team, Lehigh Carbon Monroe or Red team senior football players. A portion of the sales from this event goes to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
“The one thing that I have gathered from all this is the fact that there is much talent within the Lehigh Valley,” Gold Squad and Pen Argyl Head Coach Brady Mutton stated. “The years of coaching are evident at times but having them all in one place, makes things incredible.
It is a joy to coach these kids and we barely have to tell them anything as they understand what football is all about.
As a coach, all we have to do is ensure that the kids are on plan and tonight, they delivered as instructed. ”
Just like in the competition held last year, it was the Gold Squad that delighted the minds right from the onset. The Red Squad took their three and out in order to start the game and Mutton’s own quarterback for Penn Argyl, Bradley Rissmiller, scored the first points of the game when he hit Northampton’s Tristin Pinnock wide open in the midst of the field for the 34-yard touchdown on third down and eight. But it paved way for a big half for Rissmiller who is expected to go play baseball next year at Northampton Community College.
“I have to thank our receivers because they did excellent job running their routes and they were open most of the time in the first half,” Rissmiller said. “The line was doing an incredible job in blocking too to give not just myself but all three quarterbacks we used tonight time to set and throw. ”
The Red Squad responded on their next scoring drive when Kristopher Cruz of Executive Charter connected with a pastor favorite, RaptoNhững sự thăng trầm tiếp đó của Red Squad trong cuộc đó là Damon Young, trong tình huống third and eight của họ để ghi 全案的回应,那边红队的是,接下来的冲锋,当Executive Charter的Kristopher Cruz从第三个八码区域,找到了一位熟稔对
The second Gold Squad drive had Notre Dame freshman Danny Darno under center replacing Camp who connected with Easton high’s Jordan Alston on pass and went 47 yards for the score. It seemed the Gold Squad was about to start running away with things when Rissmiller found Notre Dame’s Josh Ludlow for another deep strike, this time from 44 yards, for his second touchdown pass of the day that made it 21-7 with 7:On average, 12 patients were discharged at the end of the second quarter and 13 left in the second quarter.
The Red Squad penetrated into the Gold Squad territory as far as the twenty five yard line on the opening drive of the second half, but the Gold Squad stood its ground, and stymied the Red Squad on the fourth down and one yard to go when play was called. However, the Red Squad got the ball back in the very next play when Rissmiller fumbled on a draw play. Northwestern Lehigh’s Dalton Clymer punched it in from two yards out to make it 21-14 with 4:21 left in the third quarter is the specific detail.
The Gold Squad was continuously providing the Red Squad opportunities to get the lead after its next drive stalled without scoring even though it got all the way to the Red two yard line of its opponent. They were charged with a snap and forced to run 21 yards back, and then, a 38-yard field goal attempt missed the goal post by bouncing off the left crossbar. Luke Spang piloted the Red Squad from the drive that would see four Gold Squad penalties marked by his seven-yard touchdown run that placed the scores at 21-20.
At the very same location which one year ago Red Squad Head Coach Jim McCarroll sat or stood, so did the Pleasant Valley High team’s Head Coach Blaec Saeger, going for two and the lead. Though the personnel was not the same, the reality was quite similar to Dieruff’s Mekhi Ashby who was brought to the one-yard line by players of Saucon Valley in the end; Landon Beckowski the player that proved the decisive factor in the game.
This turnover gave the Red Squad the ball with exactly 4:03 left on the fourth quarter but the team could not even reach midfield.
“When the game gets hectic and nigly as it did towards the end what was key was for us to remain focused,” Mutton said. I remember telling them ‘do not get in the mess and let us close out this game. ’
The Red Squad had a slight lead in total yards gaining 267 yards in comparison to the Blues’ 222 yards with both offenses proving potent on the field. Rissmiller ended the game with 92 yards of total yards in the air, was 5-of-8 passing the ball and made two touchdown passes. Ludlow was the most productive of all the receivers and be equally poised 80 yards from four catches, one of which was a touchdown.
The new experience is quite phenomenal and, truth be told, it is almost bewildering to consider the fact that one gets to play with all these others guys who one has been battling with in the Fall,” Rissmiller stated. “Ole time football you see them and yes it is good way of making friends and making a fraternity because football really unites people. ”
