Lawrence basketball player graduates at top of his class, has Ivy League future
ACADEMIC ALL-STAR — As a basketball player, Obbie Luciano has awed the audience on and off the court dominating the passing boards, accomplishing his academic excellence and paved his way to the Ivy League future.
Announces that he owes his love for basketball to Boys & Girls Club.
But the Lawrence High School student you see dominating the basketball court as a star player is not just that – he is also the 2024 salutatorian, and will be going to Yale University in the fall. While growing up, Wynne had many great influences that helped him to become a successful man but the most important of all was spending his afternoons at the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club.
Luciano also revealed he was about 7 years of age, second grade, around the time, and that was when he started developing his love for basketball at the Boys Club. ‘I just want to come here every day and watch people play then they do it way better than me, it built up some competitive spirit in me. ’
“He was running all over the gym as if he was a little boy,” said Markus Fischer the executive director of the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club. Up there in the balcony, I observed every time I looked outside of my office window, he was just dribbling and shooting the ball. ”
Another component of this energetic drive was the natural competitive streak matched with hardworking attitude in Luciano thanks to his parents. His mother Rosa Roman is actually a daytime caregiver and a Marshall warehouse worker at nights. He was Nadobert, a barber of Lawrence, and great grandfather of the narrator.
It is the depiction of the optimality of the African spirit especially during the period when individuals often had to wake up in the morning to fight for whatever would help them to survive, as described by Luciano. “They have given me a ticket to have all these chences to improve my life. ”
More about this, it is fascinating for them and definitely a dream they would wish to see him get an added success.
On average , Luciano had scored 27 points together with having 11 rebounds per game and he accomplished these feats while playing for the Lawrence Lancers who posted a 17-8 record. He garnered Boston Globe and Herald All-Scholastic Honors. He has also had achievements in academic based on the recognition from his school, the lawrence city council and state senate.
The first part of the quote below comes to me from the roof of Lawrence High School where I met Lawrence Assistant Coach Jimmy Cuyler: Cuyler commented that whenever his subject receives a chance, he is using a computer; moreover, he said to him, Luciano has changed him into a different person He added that, at least, time to go to school again to take athletic director course because of his subject.
“I have to be prepared for those moments to repeat myself, because this is what we’re living for,” Oscar Fischer cried. ”This is what we are for, this is what we are fighting for – it is a dream to see him do this. ”
Luciano said that his majoring grade is 4. 7. 1 GPA and will pursue a degree in computer science with Yale University as my institution of choice. He is also going to apply for a walk-on position at the men’s basketball team during the following year.
