Five Western Slope High School Football Teams are playoff bound
CHSAA announces brackets for the western slope high school football teams ending up in the playoffs and includes five of them: the eight and six man and classes 5A, 4A, 2A, and 1A.
There were 3 local teams that were able to advance into the 4A bracket.
Of the three conferences, the Montrose Red Hawks claimed the highest seed, which was the third place. They will enter the playoffs with a first-round bye and the face the winner of a game between the 14 th ranked Pueblo West and the 19 th ranked Longmont Trojans. The Red Hawks script sweetend their regular season by triumphing over the Trojans with a 33-7 score line.
This put the Fruita Monument Wildcats in a first round home game and the 13 seed. It will face Falcon Falcons in the first round which set 20. Should the Wildcats triumph against the Falcons, they would face the Broomfield Eagles who earlier on defeated Fruita Monument by 21-6 some two weeks ago.
When the Central Warriors get the number 18 seed they will immediately hit the road for the playoffs, which will have them playing the number 15 Rampart Rams in Colorado Springs. The winner of that game has a date with the numerically ranked second team in the entire competition the Erie Tigers.
The teams from the Western Slope scooped some of the best seeds in class 2A.
Delta Panthers after dominating in the regular season took the first top seed in 2A and will participate in the first round of the knockout stage hosting the sixteenth seed Alamosa Mean Moose.
On the other side of the bracket is Bears. The Bears secured the three seed along with a game against the Brush Beetdiggers again. The Bears’ story is not all too different as they lost to the current opponents in their September meeting with a score of 28-14.
Class 3A has one week more in a season, so the teams like Palisade Bulldogs or similar will have to wait one week.
